My little blonde babe turns 4 years old today. I know all mothers say they cannot believe how fast the time goes and I will add myself to that group and say the same thing! She is smart, funny and goofy, sweet, a wonderful sister. She can be shy but when she knows you and warms up she is a chatterbox. She is so special to us and when she requested a Minnie Mouse birthday party I of course obliged and got the creative wheels turning in my head. I have a confession and it is that I am not the biggest fan of character themes. But disappoint Blaire? No way. I decided to turn her Minnie Mouse party into a sweet treats garden party, featuring her favorite mouse friend.
Is this not the cutest leather bow you have ever seen??? Meeting new friends and shop owners through Instagram is one of my things. I came across Genuinely Made a few months ago and fell in love with her bows. Her Fall line is unbelievable and I want every color for Blaire! I ordered 6 different colors, some leather and some suede. To celebrate Blaire’s birthday USE CODE EVERBSTYLED3 at CHECKOUT when you buy THREE tulip bows as a set and get $2 off. I also love how secure the bow is and it does not slip out of Blaire’s hair. My new favorite bow shop!
I usually make the invitations myself for my events but I found an invite through Etsy that I was in love with and it was literally perfect. Magic Paper Store offered the invite as a PDF that I could edit myself and print at home or at a print center, like Staples. This invite was so perfect with the stripes, gold Minnie head and flowers. It was easy to edit and print and looked adorable!
Her color scheme was pink and red. I had a vision of a vintage inspired dresser holding all of the desserts. But where to find one was the question. Would you believe me if I said we came home from the beach one day and my neighbor next door was throwing away a dresser?? (and a shelf). I quickly ran out and had Joe help lift the furniture into the garage. With a fresh coat of paint it was adorable! I painted the shelf as well to house the cute boxes of popcorn and the paper plates and napkins.
I have made so much food for kid parties and they never eat it. So this time I made the stuff I knew they would eat. SWEETS! Cupcakes, cookies, mini ice cream cones and Blaire’s request- ring pops. I found these Minnie Mouse edible bows on Etsy from Sweet Sarah’s Boutique and knew they were the perfect topper for the cupcakes I was baking. The shop owner was so wonderful and packed these bows in bubble wrap to ensure they arrived in one piece. Not a single bow was broken! To finish off the cupcakes, I used mini york peppermint patties for the ears and did a simple swirl of vanilla icing. I added flowers to the cupcake tower to tie in the garden theme.
I do like the kids to have at least one planned activity so I thought they should decorate mickey and minnie shaped cookies! Blaire and I baked the cookies and I made 6 different colors of royal icing for the kids to choose from, as well as a variety of colored sugars and sprinkles!
I love how this party came out. My husband even thanked me for not going too overboard on it! I say it was was a success!
