A CHIC MINNIE GARDEN PARTY

My little blonde babe turns 4 years old today. I know all mothers say they cannot believe how fast the time goes and I will add myself to that group and say the same thing! She is smart, funny and goofy, sweet, a wonderful sister.  She can be shy but when she knows you and warms up she is a chatterbox. She is so special to us and when she requested a Minnie Mouse birthday party I of course obliged and got the creative wheels turning in my head. I have a confession and it is that I am not the biggest fan of character themes. But disappoint Blaire? No way. I decided to turn her Minnie Mouse party into a sweet treats garden party, featuring her favorite mouse friend.

Is this not the cutest leather bow you have ever seen??? Meeting new friends and shop owners through Instagram is one of my things. I came across Genuinely Made a few months ago and fell in love with her bows. Her Fall line is unbelievable and I want every color for Blaire! I ordered 6 different colors, some leather and some suede. To celebrate Blaire’s birthday USE CODE EVERBSTYLED3 at CHECKOUT when you buy THREE tulip bows as a set and get $2 off. I also love how secure the bow is and it does not slip out of Blaire’s hair. My new favorite bow shop!

I usually make the invitations myself for my events but I found an invite through Etsy that I was in love with and it was literally perfect. Magic Paper Store offered the invite as a PDF that I could edit myself and print at home or at a print center, like Staples. This invite was so perfect with the stripes, gold Minnie head and flowers. It was easy to edit and print and looked adorable!

Her color scheme was pink and red. I had a vision of a vintage inspired dresser holding all of the desserts. But where to find one was the question. Would you believe me if I said we came home from the beach one day and my neighbor next door was throwing away a dresser?? (and a shelf). I quickly ran out and had Joe help lift the furniture into the garage. With a fresh coat of paint it was adorable! I painted the shelf as well to house the cute boxes of popcorn and the paper plates and napkins.

I have made so much food for kid parties and they never eat it. So this time I made the stuff I knew they would eat. SWEETS! Cupcakes, cookies, mini ice cream cones and Blaire’s request- ring pops. I found these Minnie Mouse edible bows on Etsy from Sweet Sarah’s Boutique and knew they were the perfect topper for the cupcakes I was baking. The shop owner was so wonderful and packed these bows in bubble wrap to ensure they arrived in one piece. Not a single bow was broken! To finish off the cupcakes, I used mini york peppermint patties for the ears and did a simple swirl of vanilla icing. I added flowers to the cupcake tower to tie in the garden theme.

I do like the kids to have at least one planned activity so I thought they should decorate mickey and minnie shaped cookies! Blaire and I baked the cookies and I made 6 different colors of royal icing for the kids to choose from, as well as a variety of colored sugars and sprinkles!

SLIP DRESSES AND BOMBERS

Bombers were big last year and they are big again. I love to style mine in different ways. Don’t get me wrong, I throw it over tees and tanks with jeans but here I decided to put it over one of Fall’s other trends, the slip dress. It is comfortable and easy and looks well put together yet effortless.

Sometimes I feel bad posting things that are no longer available but I don’t have endless funds to buy 20 bomber jackets a season so I am a repeat offender and proud of it. This fun plaid version is from J.Crew Factory from two years ago but I found similar plaid bombers for you, do not fret!

I like to play with texture and prints but in a muted way. I am not huge on crazy colors and prints but I do like to add some interest to my outfits. The blue and hunter color palette of this bomber allows me to bring some fall pattern into my styling but not be too over the top. This camo one would also be amazing.

This slip dress. Wow. It is SO EASY. I probably should have gotten the size down but I kind of like the more modest length and the casual loose flow of this one. For reference I am wearing the size 4 (fits like a 0-2). Slip dresses are all over this fall. I do not know if I am brave enough to wear it over a tee or blouse a la Kelly Taylor and Donna Martin 90210 90’s style….so for now I will wear it under jackets. Many people pull it off but I will stick with chokers for my 90’s flair.

This week is RAIN for the foreseeable future but temps seem to be dropping so I am excited for fall! Have a great week guys!

FALL DENIM GUIDE

You asked so here it is! I rounded up my favorite denim and also a few I have had my eye on lately! I think finding the right pair of jeans is important. I used to think my jeans fit but after I started choosing the right ones that work for me I started to wear the same pairs over and over again. I think it is important to find a brand and style that works for you. For me, I tend to gravitate towards high waist. Not every single pair, but I like how they fit my torso and tuck everything in to make a slim and smooth appearance! However, high waist doesn’t always look the best when you want to work that “half tuck I do not care but I really do” look with your top, so I do mix it up! The first 5 are jeans I own and wear on a weekly basis. When my dad used to go to work he used to rotate his clothes so he would not repeat often so I like to say these jeans are all in my rotation weekly! The next 5 are jeans I have read amazing things about and are on my list to buy!

    1. These Levi’s should be in everyone’s closet. I have been tracking them down for months and they are currently stocked in ALL SIZES at Shopbop. HURRY. They won’t last.

2. These are FINALLY MINE. After receiving 3 different emails canceling my order during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (I may have cried once or twice) I got my hands on them after the sale and dear Nordstrom was kind enough to honor the sale price! These jeans are incredible. They are the softest ever and the distressing placement is perfect. Some people say they run big but I am a 25 and got a 25. If you are in between I would say to size down instead of up.

3. Another pair I wear all the time are my Blank NYC jeans. (wearing them as I type this). I like them for being comfortable around the house because the more I wear them the more they get broken in. I also wear them dressed up with a pair of heels out to dinner.

4. Topshop makes some great ankle length jeans and sometimes I just do not want to get my jeans tailored. I am 5 ‘1 so I pretty much get everything tailored for length. I have the Jamie Moto in 2 washes and I reach for them every single week.

5. I think every woman needs to own at least one pair of jeans that IS NOT distressed. Yes, I said that. But I think there are moments when denim is appropriate but rips are not. I love the J Brand High Rise Skinny for this type of occasion. The wash is saturated and rich and is clean of any whiskers, sandblasting or rips. Just a classic skinny!

6. I have not pulled the trigger yet for FRAME but I have heard only good things. I am loving this pair.

7. I own One Teaspoon shorts and I think they got more wear out of anything in my whole closet this summer so I am tempted to grab this pair.

8.  I do not think I have bought a pair of Express jeans since college. But these grey ones are on their way to me and I am excited for them! The raw hem bottom is my FAVORITE.

9.  A pair of leather jeans are on my radar. I love the distressing in this pair.

10.  I also love the clean look of these and have heard they are SO GOOD.
