October 2017 archive

A day late for weekend deals, but the sales are just as good and BETTER. Sometimes I love a good Monday online shopping excursion to brighten up a dreary day. It is so windy in NJ today, so much that last night the wind literally blew our doors open on our balcony in our bedroom. Talk about a scary movie coming to life at night. Anyways, I needed some indoor retail therapy today so here is what I found!

These plain tees aren’t necessarily a sale, but at $20 I call them a deal. I have the basic white and the black and white stripe on the way.

I LOVE this boucle coat in both black and white and it is currently 33% off.

This sweater comes in 5 colors and is under $50.

Finally grabbing this scarf. For under $50 it is something I will grab daily for those chilly school drop off mornings!

Everything is up to 40% off at Express. I picked up this sweater in ivory, this deep V bodysuit in slate and this blush blouse. Each one can be paired with high waisted jeans for date night, no matter what the occasion is. I love having staples like these on hand especially during the holiday season!

Old Navy has some great pieces right now. I love these flannels layered under a sweater or moto.

This utility shirt would look adorable knotted with ripped jeans or styled open with a thin sweater under.

This looks way more expensive than $25 and comes in a ton of colors.

I grabbed these cozy slippers in anticipation of the winter months! I hate walking around in socks. The kids each have these and I was inspired.

It seems LOFT has a sale weekly but I am not complaining. A few new things that have caught my eye are this sweater dress, this cuffed sleeve sweater, this ultra soft camel beauty and these amazing velvet leggings.

Something that is making a huge statement this Fall is chenille. The super soft knit is showing up everywhere and I had to get my hands on a sweater. I found this slashed arm one for such a deal and grabbed it up. It is a little more trendy than I normally would wear but I think it is a really fun sweater. I love the mustard color which is also huge this season!

This sweater needed a leather touch to go hand in hand with the edgy whipstitch pieced sleeves. These leather leggings are literally the most amazing pair I have ever owned. I gush about them a lot on Instagram and I truly mean it when I say they are incredible. The size I am wearing the 0 petite. I wanted my pair to be ankle length because I wanted to be able to wear them with sneakers. I really do not love when my leather bunches up at my ankle, which is a problem I have a lot being 5 ‘1. Besides being the perfect length, they are lined with a lightweight fleece making them the softest pair I have ever owned. The leather feels like genuine leather and is far from plastic pleather. I could go on and on…

This chenille sweater is the perfect topper for these pants. I got it from Romwe which is the same brand as Shein. If you are ok with waiting a few weeks to get your item then I see no issue at ALL feeling confident shopping at Shein and Romwe, especially for very trendy pieces. A lot of the items you all are liking on Instagram come from those two stores so give it a try! I finished this look out with a pair of Kenneth Cole high tops with double zips on each side!  (currently on sale!) My new go to pair. This is the first weekend in over a month we do not have any plans. Really. We have plans to work on our dining space and grab some pumpkins for the kids to paint and carve! Have a great weekend!

post microbladed and healed eyebrows

Get ready because this is a long one. But A GOOD ONE about my microblading experience. I have always hated my eyebrows. They were sparse and small and tiny little half moons that sat above my eyes. I really hate my dark circles as well so my eyes are always something I tend to dislike about myself. Maybe why you always see me with sunglasses in my photos! I heard about microblading and immediately wanted to try it. I did research on it and tried to figure out how I would trust someone with a semi permanent “tattoo” on my face. That is when I was introduced to Chelsea from Brow Authority. (check out her Insta too!) She entered my need-for-eyebrows-life at the exact time I was looking around for the perfect person to work with. She took the time to talk to me on the phone prior to my appointment and we discussed EVERYTHING. Chelsea answered every single question I wondered about and eased even the slightest concerns I had about the process. When I say she is the most amazing aesthetician I have ever worked with I mean it. More on her throughout this post, so let me begin!

If you do not already know what microblading is, it is a form of tattooing but it is done all by hand. A tiny tool is used to create hair-like perfect lines to give the look of natural and perfectly shaped eyebrows. The technique places ink in the first layer of your skin which makes it semi permanent. It will fade over time and a color touch up is recommended every 8 months to a year to maintain your beautiful brows. Here are my eyebrows before…

pre microbladed eyebrows before photo

When I arrived at my appointment Chelsea took photos of my before brows and we discussed what shape I wanted. Some photos accompanied me for inspiration which really helped gear us on the same page. I wanted a high arch and heaviness on the inside corners by my nose but thinner tails at the end and did NOT want thick blocky lines and she soften the edges so I got everything I wanted. She began by measuring my face and drew on the shape for my approval. I gave it to her immediately because it was SPOT ON.

We then color swatched on my forehead and chose a color that was similar to my hair and darker than my natural brows, which you can see were ashy and fair.  After that she places a topical numbing cream on my brows to take the edge off a little but really it did not hurt at all! She then started the actual procedure which took less than an hour. She also drew on tiny lines with a marker right before the actual microblading so I could get an idea of what it will look like. The longest part was making sure the shape was perfect.

To me, eyebrows are everything on your face. They immediately give you depth and really open up your eyes. Think about mascara and how the second you apply it to your lashes your eyes look bigger and brighter. That is also eyebrows! Defining the shape of them and having a more rich color opens up your face and I do not know how I have not done a process like this sooner. I cannot say enough how I happy I am with them and I have Chelsea at Brow Authority to thank for that. I urge you to connect with her if you are thinking of getting microblading. She takes the time to talk with you and makes sure you LOVE the shape, color and size of your eyebrows before she proceeds. She is open, honest, professional and easy to talk to, which I think is so important when it comes to something like this. scabbed eyebrows after microblading

my microblading experience 1 week post microbladingpost microblading healed eyebrows

What to expect: minimal pain, more like an annoying scraping feeling but I felt zero pain in that way. You can expect scabbing for about 5-7 days after your initial appointment and touch up. I used Cetaphil and a flat cotton pad to clean my brows and coconut oil to moisturize them. Expect gorgeous brows and PERFECT service from Chelsea at Brow Authority!
