A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of doing a really fun in store fit session with Banana Republic. I visited the flagship store in Rock Center in NYC and was greeted by two of the stores’ stylists. Together we curated looks based around the new Spring pants that were released. The goal was to choose some of the pants that most women deem as corporate and style them in a way that is more contemporary and fresh for an every day look outside of the office. Of course we also chose a pair of frayed hem jeans because we could not resist them. More on that look and the others below!
Heritage Double Pleat Crop
This was a pant I had my eye on even before I went to the store. Cropped pants are big for Spring and the fabric on these are what attracted me to them. They are slinky yet structured. They could of course be worn for the office but I decided to style them in a way that could take you from day to night. We know I love a leather jacket so I paired the wide legged cropped pants with a structured buttery soft leather moto jacket. Texture texture texture is my motto lately and this look needed some. With the help of the store stylists we selected this merino sweater tank. I love the way the airy tank sweater pairs with the leather and the trouser. It comes in three colors and I want the black! We found this gorgeous snakeskin clutch to add a little bit of interest to a neutral outfit. Add a pair of statement sunnies and a gorgeous metallic bracelet and you have yourself a perfect outfit for a night out! If you do not feel comfortable wearing a moto jacket to your office try pairing this same exact office with the blazer from the next look.
Sloan Fit Sateen Pant
The Sloan fit pant is the most slim pant Banana Republic offers. It hits at the ankle and has a slim tapered fit through the hip and leg. I tend to either go very skinny or very wide when it comes to choosing my pants so this one was a great option for me. I am short so a chunky block heel was a must for me in this type of pant. I went with a sandal instead of a stiletto heel because I wanted to show how this pant could be worn in a more casual way. I wore the black pant for this look but they come in a burgundy color that is AMAZING. For this look I took a more structured blazer and paired it with the pant. I chose one with a pattern and one of my favorites at that, camo. This updated camo was designed with all hues of blue and was tailored to fit snug. I would also wear it with jeans and sneakers with the sleeves completely pushed up for a more weekend look. I layered a silky cami under the blazer and popped in a metallic cross body bag to finish out the look.
Scultp Light Wash Fray-Hem Skinny Ankle Jean
I love denim so I had to try a pair from Banana. These are SO SOFT and I love the frayed hem for a little whimsy touch. This suede jacket is something I wish I could wear every single day. It is luxurious and the blue is simply gorgeous. The suede knotted clutch is perfect to throw all of your essentials in and it comes in two colors! I added a bell sleeve textured top under the jacket and front tucked it up a little bit. The ivory color needed an ivory pairing so some oversized sunglasses were added to finish off the look.
Avery-Fit Lightweight Wool Pant
This pant was the one that was the most out of my comfort zone. I do reach for jeans on most days but these pants are so comfortable and still look so polished that I may reach for them on days I am just not feeling wearing a pair of jeans. I wanted to show how this pant can be VERY casual for this look I went with a neutral palette and topped them off with a v neck tee and a sweet little necktie for some added styling and added an army green tote. I am big on tying a jacket around your waist to cinch and a utility jacket is one of my favorite pieces to use for that. LOAFERS are BIG! This pair was like wearing slippers and so comfortable. We lost our beautiful NYC outdoor lighting so we had to move indoors for this look but you get the idea!
I hope you loved this post as much as I enjoyed styling for it! A huge thank you to the Banana Republic Rockefeller Center store for having me and allowing me the opportunity to work with you in your store on this styling event. It was so fun and the store looks incredible! I hope to do it again!
